Dear Friends in the Lord,
Let’s continue on with our Lent Journey. I hope you are daily spending time with our Lord using our church’s Lent Devotional Book. I was glad to see that we have shared 162 copies of them. 162 is the number of copies we made. If you still don’t have a copy, let me know and I will see that one gets made for you. I know I have been blessed, encouraged, and challenged by these powerful words of testimony and teaching by the people of our church this week. I want to encourage you to read the second Sunday of Lent page in our devotional book to prepare for our worship time tomorrow. I am not trying to drown you in reading, but I will be stringing four events together in the sermon. So, if you want to really follow what I will be saying well, please read: John 13:37-38 , John 18:25-27, and John 21:1-14 as well as the scripture in the devotional – John 21:15-15. This interaction between Simon Peter and Jesus is a truly powerful story and has great power for us. So, please give some time to this powerful story between now and our worship time tomorrow.
I want to remind the men of our church that we have our monthly men’s breakfast tomorrow at 7:30. Benjamin Lightner from the Mobile Inner-City Mission/Taylor Park Ministry will be speaking to us. Benjamin always has great news and inspiring stories to share with us. Today, I had the privilege to eat breakfast with our Ladies Breakfast. We had a great time together with Elecia Ezell giving us a very compelling and heart-felt devotional.
We are a church because, we are called to be a family by Jesus. We have the prospect of bad weather coming through in the next 24 hours. I sure don’t know where the worst of the storms will be manifested. Mississippi and Alabama make up a large land area. So, my dear brothers and sisters, please take all reasonable precautions. If you know of anyone who is impacted by the storms, please let me know so we may support and help one another in love. God has been speaking to me all week long about how important Christian community is. God created us and the church. We are made where we really need each other. I know our American individualism says otherwise, but in living for Jesus, we need each other.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow as we gather to worship Jesus.
